Around 3.4 million people in Germany are in need of care. Three quarters of them are cared for at home. It is currently estimated that there are around 4.8 million family members providing care. Around half of these carers are also employed. They have to shoulder the burden of caring and working at the same time. More than 70 percent of the main carers are women, who often also look after children at the same time.
The care support points in the district of Ludwigsburg offer telephone and personal advice at six locations (Ludwigsburg district office, Vaihingen/Enz district office, health center at the train station in Besigheim, city of Ludwigsburg, city of Bietigheim-Bissingen, Gerlingen family center) on issues relating to care in the event of a need for assistance and care. The advice is independent, neutral, confidential and free of charge for those seeking advice. The topics are varied. For example: clarifying questions in the run-up to care, how care can be reconciled with family and work and what options are available if everyday life has to be rearranged due to care or illness.
Topics include in particular
Support services for family caregivers
Living with dementia
Barrier-free living, technical and other aids
Outpatient assistance such as home care, meals on wheels, home help
Day, short-term, respite and permanent care
Questions about care insurance and other benefit entitlements
