The freely accessible repair stations are ideal contact points for anyone whose bike needs a pit stop on the road. Whether it's a flat tire, a loose screw or an incorrectly adjusted saddle: "At the new RadSERVICE points, you can easily carry out minor repairs to your bike yourself - free of charge and around the clock," says Lisa Röthinger, Cycling Officer for the Ludwigsburg district, explaining the benefits of the stations.
To make repairs easy, a holding device allows the bike to be jacked up. In addition to Allen keys, screwdrivers and other tools, there is also an air pump equipped with a pressure gauge for all common valves - so the tire pressure of baby carriages, trailers or wheelchairs can also be regulated.
22 local authorities applied for a RadSERVICE point, the installation of which is funded by the district with around 9,500 euros - the other half of the sum is covered by the state of Baden-Württemberg as part of the large RadKULTUR funding package. When selecting the municipalities, it was important to distribute the stations evenly and with maximum added value for cyclists in the district. Asperg, Besigheim, Freiberg am Neckar, Gerlingen, Kornwestheim, Oberstenfeld, Remseck am Neckar, Steinheim and Tamm were awarded the contract. The repair pillars are currently being printed before they are delivered and installed.
"Regardless of our funding, we would be delighted if other municipalities also decided to set up RadSERVICE stations," emphasizes District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. "The district will be happy to act as a point of contact for them."
