New series of lectures by the district administration office at HVF Ludwigsburg: students gain insights into the practice of municipal climate protection

A new lecture series on municipal climate protection was recently launched at the Ludwigsburg University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Finance (HVF). "I am very pleased that this concrete result of our climate forum in March could be implemented together with the HVF," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, who co-initiated the series.

A male instructor stands in front of a projection screen, delivering a presentation to a classroom of students seated at desks. The screen displays colorful graphs and charts, while students attentively listen, some taking notes or using laptops. The classroom is equipped with whiteboards and learning materials.

The lecture series is part of the Bachelor's degree course in Public Management with a specialization in urban development (6th semester). The Bachelor's degree program prepares students for senior and leading positions in municipal and state administration. Julia Neuhäuser, Daniela Klein, Melanie Niemann, Marvin Wachter and Lukas Göppner from the District Office's Climate Protection and Sustainable Mobility departments are jointly responsible for a total of eight lectures lasting several hours until January. In addition to the basics of climate change and highlighting possible courses of action, they will provide direct insights into the practice of municipal climate protection and administrative tasks in the field of sustainable mobility, such as concepts, plans and measures.

Students are enthusiastic about the offer

Around 40 students take part in the lecture series in two groups. They are enthusiastic about the offer and emphasize above all that they consider the topic of municipal climate protection to be very important and that the lecture series provides them with valuable knowledge.

The lecture series is a result of the district climate forum Partnerships for Climate Action in March of this year, in which Rector Dr. Iris Rauskala and Prof. Dr. Christian Walker took part and discussed the collaboration with District Administrator Allgaier.

Rector Dr. Rauskala says: "Climate protection is a major concern for young people. In municipal practice, however, the implementation of this is a challenging matter in which many legal matters and social objectives have to be weighed up against each other. I am therefore all the more pleased that we are able to enrich our Public Management course content with the comprehensive practical knowledge of the Ludwigsburg district, which is excellently positioned in terms of climate protection. My sincere thanks go to everyone involved."

"The commitment of the Ludwigsburg District Office has created an important building block for our teaching in the field of climate protection. This lecture series is a beacon in the university landscape," says Prof. Dr. Walker, coordinator of the urban development specialization and professor of constitutional and administrative law at the HVF.
