During guided tours, visitors learn fascinating facts about the blacksmith’s craft, technological developments, and the blacksmith’s important role within the village community. Historical photographs and demonstrations bring the past to life.
Experience Village Life of the Past – The Poppenweiler Village Museum
The Poppenweiler Village Museum brings the history of rural life to life in an authentic and engaging way. Housed in a historic 18th-century farmhouse, the museum displays numerous original artifacts from agriculture, crafts, household life, and village life.
Historic living quarters, an old kitchen, school supplies, toys, farm equipment, and craft exhibits offer insights into the daily lives of past generations. Particularly impressive is the wide variety of lovingly preserved objects that document the evolution of village life.
The Art of Milling and Local History – The Sersheim Mill and Local History Museum
The Sersheim Mill and Local History Museum, located in the Fessler Mill, combines mill history, regional culture, and modern entrepreneurship. The mill has been family-owned for centuries and today vividly conveys the history of the milling trade.
Historic millstones, original equipment, old documents, and collectibles tell the story of the mill’s development and life in the Metter Valley. At the same time, the Fessler Mill demonstrates how traditional craftsmanship and modern use can be combined—from flour production to its own distillery.

The Münchingen Local History Museum is also dedicated to regional history and everyday life in times past. Historical living and working environments, artisanal objects, and numerous documents and exhibits provide insights into the town’s development and the lives of its residents.
The museum not only preserves historical artifacts but also vividly illustrates the changes in social life across several generations.
History within historic walls – the Museum in the Stiftsscheuer Mundelsheim
The Museum in the Stiftsscheuer Mundelsheim combines local history with historic architecture. The former Stiftsscheuer documents the development of Mundelsheim as well as how people once lived and worked in the region.
Historical everyday objects, agricultural exhibits, and rotating exhibitions make the museum a vibrant place of remembrance for regional history and culture. A particularly special gem is the fully preserved cooper’s workshop on display in the attic.
