On Sunday, the new Metter cycle path was inaugurated at the Cycle Action Day in Bietigheim-Bissingen. To mark the occasion, District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, the first state official of the Enzkreis district, Dr. Hilde Neidhardt, the Mayor of Bietigheim-Bissingen, Jürgen Kessing, the Mayor of Sternenfels, Antonia Walch and Bernd Pelz, the initiator of the cycle path, spoke at a round table about the development process of the cross-district cycle path and cycle tourism in general. The roundtable was moderated by Christina Lennhof, Managing Director of Kraichgau-Stromberg Tourismus e.V. The participants also unveiled the information board for the new cycle path and cut the opening ribbon.

Among the guests were the mayors of some of the six municipalities involved in the cycle path (Sternenfels, Illingen, Vaihingen/Enz, Sersheim, Sachsenheim and Bietigheim-Bissingen) as well as other project participants.

The Metterradweg runs for almost 29 kilometers from Sternenfels-Diefenbach, the source of the Metter, past sun-drenched vineyards, orchards rich in varieties, picturesque brook landscapes and shady forests to Bietigheim-Bissingen, where the Metter flows into the Enz. In combination with the almost 64-kilometre-long Kraich Cycle Path, a supra-regional cycle path connection is created from the Rhine to the Enz and via the Enztal Cycle Path further to the Neckar.

The project management and coordination for the Metterradweg was carried out by the Ludwigsburg District Office. The cycle map for the Kraich and Metter cycle paths is available from the Ludwigsburg District Office, the towns and municipalities involved and Kraichgau-Stromberg Tourismus e.V..
