It rolls through the district and the message "STOP MASERN! Get vaccinated!" The bus is the centerpiece of the campaign - it is designed to encourage people to pick up their vaccination cards and check their vaccination status or have it checked. The patron of the campaign is Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn. The cooperation partners want to raise public awareness of the issue and educate people about measles. As part of the campaign, which is planned to run for one to two years, various target groups will be addressed using different media, including a bus with stickers on it, a website, information material for doctors' surgeries, pharmacies, local authorities, schools and nurseries as well as various events. The campaign was initiated by the local health conference in the district of Ludwigsburg.
Why all this effort if there are plans to make vaccination against measles compulsory? The population has a right to comprehensive information and, moreover, the planned "compulsory vaccination" will not reach all those who are insufficiently vaccinated or unprotected.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, 442 cases of measles have already been reported in Germany this year - 64% of those affected are over the age of 15 (as of 17.07.2019). Therefore: Seen the bus? Check your vaccination book!
