There is already an active neighborhood in Oststadt. For example, the Nachbarnetz, a neighborhood support network, has been established. The city, the district and the Evangelische Altenheime Foundation want to continue to promote and support this development with the project.
The Ouartier Ludwigsburg Ost is a mixed area in which 2,514 people live in old buildings and apartment blocks and townhouses built since the 1990s. More than half of the residents are between 20 and 70 years old. A third are over 70. 55 percent are single households. The neighborhood is home to four inpatient care facilities and an assisted living facility for the elderly, a daycare center, a residential facility for people with disabilities and an addiction counseling center.
The future project work is intended to create a neighborhood meeting place, among other things. Those who know how their neighbors are doing and what life situations they find themselves in can offer targeted help. Families who are caring for relatives or looking after small children, for example, can experience relief in the neighborhood. At the same time, there are many opportunities for people who want to get involved in helping others. Active togetherness is an important building block for a meaningful and satisfying life. Togetherness needs a place to meet. Encounters generate additional knowledge that can be used to further develop local professional advice and support. Professional help is necessary when the natural neighborhood support and assistance network is no longer sufficient.
In Quartier Ost, the aim is to create a broader understanding of the life situations of everyone in the neighborhood. Through neighborhood assemblies, group meetings, interviews and online surveys, citizens can also be involved in order to improve informal and professional infrastructures and counteract being alone with problems through an open culture of encounter.
One of the project's goals is intergenerational living for all. This can be achieved through coordinated care structures, networking between citizens and professional help and an appreciative living environment.
The "Wir in City-Ost" project aims to help improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. Society and social challenges are reflected on a small scale in the neighborhood. Approaches tried and tested there can possibly be transferred in a modified form to larger social contexts.
