District administration office and Ludwigsburg University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Finance cooperate again - for climate protection and sustainable mobility

This winter semester, a series of lectures on municipal climate protection and sustainable mobility is taking place for the second time at the Ludwigsburg University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Finance (HVF). Employees of the district administration office not only contribute theoretical knowledge, but also provide practical insights into their work.

This winter semester, experts from the District Office will once again bring their expertise on climate protection and sustainable mobility directly to the students (Ludwigsburg District Office).

The dates are part of the Bachelor's degree course in Public Management with a specialization in urban development (sixth semester). The Bachelor's degree program prepares students for senior and leading positions in municipal and state administration.

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, who co-initiated the lecture series following the Climate Forum 2024 "Partnerships for Climate Action", emphasizes: "Those who understand how municipal climate protection works today will be able to make informed decisions in administration tomorrow - this is exactly what we want to contribute to with the lecture series. It's about raising awareness of the challenges and opportunities to make our region fit for the future."

Five sessions focusing on climate protection and mobility

Various employees from the District Office's Climate Protection and Sustainable Mobility departments will be holding a total of five sessions lasting several hours until mid-December. They will explain the causes and consequences of climate change, discuss possible courses of action and provide concrete insights into administrative tasks such as the creation of concepts and the implementation of measures.

University Rector Dr. Iris EliisaRauskala says: "The cooperation with the district administration office strengthens university education and enables us to firmly anchor the topics of municipal climate protection and sustainable mobility in the minds of future administrative professionals."

Prof. Dr. Christian Walker, Coordinator of the Urban Development specialization and Professor of Constitutional and Administrative Law at the HVF, adds that the topics will also be included in undergraduate studies in the future.

New specialist project on the mobility of university members

New this year is an additional specialist project developed by the Sustainable Mobility department and led at the university. In it, HVF students are looking at commuting routes and developing a mobility challenge for the university - a project that combines theory and practice.

The integration of climate protection and sustainable mobility into the university education of future administrative staff is also a measure in the district's updated climate protection concept, which can be viewed online: landkreis-ludwigsburg.de/klimaschutzkonzept
