District Administrator Dr. Haas supports the Bergamo specialist project at HVF Ludwigsburg

LUDWIGSBURG A group of students from the Public Management course at the Ludwigsburg University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Finance visited District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas on Monday (6 May) to report on their week-long study trip to Milan. The specialist project took the students to the partner institute EUPOLIS in Milan and to the province of Bergamo, the partner region of the Ludwigsburg district. The district of Ludwigsburg supported the study trip with a grant of 1000 euros.

A group of six individuals stands in a bright office setting, with a laptop displaying a photo on a table in front of them. They are engaged in a collaborative atmosphere, dressed in casual professional attire, smiling, and positioned around a wooden table against a backdrop of brick walls and artwork.

Students present their impressions of the one-week study trip to Italy

District Administrator Dr. Haas gave the young administrators an insight into the areas of responsibility of the district administration and international contacts and said: "The international dimension is becoming increasingly important in administrative practice." A total of 15 students from HVF Ludwigsburg and Prof. Wolfgang Rieth took part in the study trip at the end of March, which was carried out as part of the specialist project in the Public Management course. The students were welcomed by Giuseppe Venuti, Marketing Officer of the Province of Bergamo, and informed about the partner region and the lively partnership with the district of Ludwigsburg. Overall, the students were able to gain valuable insights into Italian local government and expand their intercultural skills during their study trip.

At the meeting, District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas, who is also Co-President of the European Council of Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), pointed out the importance of Europe in a globalized world. According to the head of the district administration, this also makes it necessary for the local level to cooperate more across national borders, as individual member states no longer have any influence over the global powers of the USA, China and Russia. From his many years of experience, he told the students that both personal relationships and knowledge of local government structures are immensely important for successful European cooperation.

The district of Ludwigsburg has maintained a friendship with the northern Italian province of Bergamo since 2002. Most recently, representatives from Bergamo were guests at the New Year's reception in the district hall in January of this year.
