District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier receives Turkish Consul General for an exchange of views: "The easiest way to reach Turkish young people is through cooperation with Turkish clubs"

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier received Consul General Erkan Öner and Education Attaché Ümit Kapti from the Turkish Consulate General in Stuttgart for an exchange of views in his office on Tuesday morning (06.07.21). The discussion focused on the relationship between the District Office and the Consulate General.

Four men in suits stand together, smiling. One man stands behind a podium, while the others are positioned beside him. They appear to be in an indoor setting with plants and flags visible in the background, suggesting a formal event or meeting.

This includes the work of the district administration's immigration office, which is responsible for around 7,900 registered Turkish citizens - a total of around 17,700 foreign residents with Turkish citizenship live in the district of Ludwigsburg. Between the beginning of 2020 and mid-2021, the district administration office naturalized 185 Turkish citizens. Another common point of reference is the Spätlingsmarkt in the Ludwigsburg district hall. Until 2015, there was a stand with citrus fruits and Turkish specialties here, which came about through the town twinning between Freiberg and Erzin. As transporting the fruit was not profitable for shipping companies, the stand was discontinued in recent years. "It would be great for the Spätlingsmarkt if this cooperation could be revived," said District Administrator Allgaier. The stall holders collected around 3,300 for Erzin when the town was hit by a natural disaster in 2014.

Vocational training was an important topic of discussion. "The easiest way to reach Turkish young people is through cooperation with Turkish associations," said District Administrator Allgaier. Ten to 20 percent of AVdual students (AVdual stands for dual training preparation) at the district's vocational schools come from families with Turkish roots. In 2019, Turkey ranked seventh in the recognition of qualifications of qualified and highly qualified specialists. Finally, Allgaier discussed the district's current integration report, which focuses on the cities of Ludwigsburg and Kornwestheim, where the majority of Turkish associations and organizations are located. One of the goals formulated in the integration report is cooperation with migrant organizations.

Erkan Öner has been Consul General at the Turkish Consulate General in Stuttgart since October 2018. In addition to the Consulate General in Stuttgart, Turkey has 13 other representations in Germany.
