The Ditzingen-based high-tech company Trumpf was on the agenda these days as part of the District Administrator's series of impulse talks with major companies in the Ludwigsburg district. The expertise of the global market leader, particularly in laser technology, is reflected in its 15,000 employees worldwide, more than 5,000 of whom work at the Ditzingen site. "This makes the company one of the largest in the district of Ludwigsburg," the District Administrator noted appreciatively, expressing his delight at the company's dynamic growth.
During the tour of production and research and development at Trumpf, Peter Leibinger introduced the guests to the Customer Center and demonstrated how machine tools for sheet metal processing work, while various possible applications for laser technology were shown in the Laser Application Center. Trumpf is also innovative in the smallest things: EUV laser production enables structure sizes of ten nanometers, i.e. ten millionths of a millimeter. This can be used to produce particularly powerful microchips. Trumpf received the German Future Prize for this development in 2020. "This award confirms Trumpf's unique technical position in this field," said Mayor Makurath, expressing his delight at the company's innovative ideas.
In the subsequent discussion, both District Administrator Allgaier and Lord Mayor Makurath expressed their interest in the close exchange of forward-looking ideas in the existing good communication atmosphere. The city and district will certainly continue to face challenges in the areas of transportation and housing in order to be able to accommodate highly qualified new employees from all over the world in the district. Leibinger emphasized the strengths of the location in the district of Ludwigsburg and held out the prospect of further investment in the location. "The district's business development department is happy to take on board ideas from companies and develop new support services," concluded district business promoter Oliver Reichert.
