District Administrator Allgaier welcomes German-Israeli student group: "You are the ones who will shape our future"

A German-Israeli group of students from the HarVaGai Regional High School from the Upper Galilee partner region and the Robert-Bosch-Gymnasium Gerlingen and four accompanying teachers were welcomed by District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier on Thursday (13. October) at the Ludwigsburg district hall. Robert-Bosch-Gymnasium Gerlingen has maintained a partnership with HarVaGai High School for 25 years. District Administrator Allgaier introduced the district of Ludwigsburg and emphasized the value of encounters and exchanges, especially of young people: "You, the young people of today, are the ones who will shape our future, in which peace and solidarity will hopefully will reign," said the head of the district administration.

A group of around 35 students poses for a photo in a formal setting, gathered in front of a podium. They wear a mix of casual and semi-formal clothing, smiling and looking toward the camera. Flags are visible in the background, suggesting a diplomatic or school event.

The friendship between Israel and Germany is not a matter of course, but for those who take part in the exchange, it has become so - that is a great achievement of our time, continued the District Administrator.

The contact between the two schools was established in 1997 by the former mayor of Gerlingen, Albrecht Sellner. In the 25 years of the school partnership, there have been a total of 21 exchanges, as it was not possible to hold exchanges in some years for safety and pandemic reasons. For example, the group from Germany was unable to travel to Israel in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic and recorded the dance video "Jerusalema" as a substitute. The "Gescher-AG" of the Robert-Bosch-Gymnasium Gerlingen would like to be a bridge between the two schools, further intensify contacts and also give insights to those who cannot take part in the exchanges: The working group deals with Israeli politics, history and religion. A total of five schools in the district have partnerships with schools in the Upper Galilee. The district recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of its partnership with the Upper Galilee region and renewed it.
