Ludwigsburg district is once again part of the RadKULTUR initiative

Experience the joy of cycling in everyday life - the district of Ludwigsburg is once again promoting this this year together with the RadKULTUR initiative of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport. In 2019, the district had already carried out a RadCHECK tour at schools with the support of RadKULTUR and installed several RadSERVICE points. This year, further RadKULTUR campaigns are taking place to encourage people to use their bikes more often for everyday journeys. "Especially in view of the current situation, the bicycle is an ideal means of transport for everyday mobility," emphasizes District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. "Everyone in the district is cordially invited to take part in the campaigns and see for themselves how easy it is to travel short distances by bike in everyday life."

Pedaling together: CITY CYCLING starts on July 1

The highlight of the cycling season in the district of Ludwigsburg is the CITY CYCLING event from July 1 to 21, in which people in the district join together in virtual teams and enter into a friendly competition. The aim of the campaign is to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible and to get your team to the top of the kilometer rankings. Anyone who lives, works or belongs to a club in the district can take part. The municipal comparison also counts: in fifteen cities and municipalities, citizens can have their kilometers ridden attributed to their own municipality and thus show that their place of residence or work is at the forefront when it comes to cycling. "Taking part in CITY CYCLING is a great way to strengthen team spirit," explains District Administrator Allgaier. "Because although everyone cycles for themselves, it's the collective performance of the team or the municipality that counts in the end." Registration for CITY CYCLING is now open and will be possible throughout the entire campaign period from July 1 to 21 at www.stadtradeln.de/landkreis-ludwigsburg. The following towns and municipalities are taking part in the campaign: Bietigheim-Bissingen, Ditzingen, Freiberg am Neckar, Gerlingen, Korntal-Münchingen, Kornwestheim, Ludwigsburg, Markgröningen, Möglingen, Pleidelsheim, Remseck am Neckar, Sachsenheim, Schwieberdingen, Steinheim and Vaihingen an der Enz.

RadSERVICE points as a point of contact in everyday life

Over the course of the year, the district is also planning to install additional bicycle repair pillars, known as RadSERVICE points, which contain an air pump for all common valves as well as tools for minor repairs. At many locations in the district, cyclists will be able to carry out small repairs to their bikes themselves, regardless of the day of the week or time of day. "We want to make it even easier for people to use their bikes for everyday journeys," emphasizes District Administrator Allgaier. The new locations of the RadSERVICE points will be announced in the course of the year. An overview of the existing locations can be found online at www.radkultur-bw.de/landkreis-ludwigsburg.
