At the moment, the district does not yet know how many refugees from Ukraine will come to Germany and the district. However, the district currently has 1,550 places in temporary accommodation, which are already well utilized due to the increased number of arrivals since autumn 2021. There are currently 150 to 200 free places available.
If necessary, additional emergency accommodation could be set up, according to the head of the district administration. Further measures have already been initiated.
Allgaier went on to say that the next few days would see coordination with the providers of social work for refugees and a video meeting with the heads of the district's town halls. "Close cooperation with the towns and municipalities as well as the providers of social work for refugees is very important to me," emphasizes District Administrator Allgaier. "Together, we want to do everything we can to offer the people who have fled the heinous war in Ukraine a safe haven in the district of Ludwigsburg."
The local authority associations have agreed with the state that the tried-and-tested three-stage admission procedure will be used here too. This means that refugees arriving in the state will generally be admitted to the initial reception facilities, from where they will be quickly redistributed and admitted to temporary accommodation in the city and district authorities.
Irrespective of this, Ukrainian nationals can enter Germany visa-free for 90 days. Due to the exceptional circumstances, a residence permit for a further stay can be applied for from the immigration authorities after this short visa-free stay. The Foreigners' Registration Office of the Ludwigsburg District Office will make use of this option quickly and unbureaucratically.
If private reception initiatives approach the district, the district will advise them and provide assistance, for example in applying the corona rules, the district administrator announced. Upon arrival in the district, the district will check the vaccination status of the refugees. If (second) vaccinations are still required, the refugees will be informed about local vaccination offers by the district's social services.
