The winners of the district competition are now moving on: the best readers in the Ludwigsburg district have qualified for the district competition, which is expected to take place in March or April 2026. There, the winners of the district and regional competitions will compete against each other for the chance to win the state competition. This will be held in May 2026.
The most talented readers from the state finals will then have the opportunity to compete against the best readers from all over Germany in the national final in Berlin in June 2026. The national final will be accompanied by Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb).
Certificates, books and book vouchers for participants and winners
All participants in the current district final received a certificate and the book "Rocky Winterfeld" by Marie Hüttner (Thienemann Verlag). Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg also sponsored a movie voucher for each participant. The three winners also received a Thalia voucher worth 25 euros, while the runners-up were rewarded with a 15-euro Thalia voucher.
The reading competition, which inspires around 600,000 sixth-graders every year, is one of the oldest and largest competitions for schoolchildren in Germany. It is organized by the Book Culture and Reading Promotion Foundation of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association and aims to promote enthusiasm for books, strengthen children's reading skills and develop their openness to new ideas.
