Proof that children have been vaccinated against measles or are immune is required to attend school or childcare. The health department helps Ukrainian families with this. When determining the measles titer, it is determined whether there are sufficient antibodies against the viral disease in the blood of the children or adolescents. For this purpose, a small amount of venous blood is taken by experienced pediatricians.
The MVZ provides the material for the blood samples and the tests free of charge. Professor Dr. med. Julia-Stefanie Frick, Managing Director of the MVZ-Labor Ludwigsburg, emphasizes: "We want to help the children as easily as possible."
Health department head Dr. Karlin Stark welcomes the low-threshold service. "The service is a useful addition to our mobile medical practice in the form of a converted vaccination bus," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. "This is a voluntary offer, no one is forced. Anyone can get vaccinated against measles at their local doctor, even if their vaccination status is unclear," adds Dr. Uschi Traub, Head of Health Promotion.
The appointments for blood collection are on Tuesdays, April 12 and 26 as well as May 3 and 10, from 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm at Hindenburgstraße 20/1, 71638 Ludwigsburg. Interpreters for Ukrainian and Russian will be on site.
