Municipalities count on support from their own ranks - On your marks, get set, go: Erligheim, Löchgau and Schwieberdingen compete against each other in the snail race

The time has come - the District Olympics are entering their second round. All residents of Erligheim, Löchgau and Schwieberdingen are invited to take to the starting blocks and help their municipality to victory. As the name "Snail Race" suggests, this competition is all about the snail - but not the well-known little mollusc, but the so-called district snail. This nickname has become established for the logo of the Ludwigsburg district, which is shaped like a snail.

Citizens should show their personal version of the district snail

And now it's the turn of the citizens of Erligheim, Löchgau and Schwieberdingen to show their personal version of the district snail. Whether painted, baked, crafted, sewn, carved, knitted, formed from sand or as a hairdo in the shape of a snail - there are no limits to creativity.

All participants have until 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 12 to complete the task. Then all results - in the original or, if not transportable, as a photo - must be handed in at an agreed point in the respective municipality.

Municipalities forward ten best submissions to the district office - jury evaluates submissions

The submissions will then be reviewed by the local authorities and the ten best submissions from the local authority's point of view will be forwarded to the Ludwigsburg District Office. On Monday, October 16, these ten submissions from each municipality will be evaluated by an independent jury. The jury will assess the submissions on the basis of defined criteria, such as the recognizability of the snail motif and originality. The winner will then be announced live on the Internet at 4 pm.

Guided tour of the Ludwigsburg Zugwiesen as a prize

The creative minds behind the ten best submissions from each municipality will be invited by the district administration office to a guided tour of the Ludwigsburg Zugwiesen: A valuable ecosystem is brought to life in the near-naturally redesigned meadow landscape with a view of the striking steep slopes. Together with the city of Ludwigsburg, a monitoring system was installed to document the processes under water. With the so-called Riverwatcher, it is possible to detect fish migration, i.e. the bypassing of the barrage. From the "Storchennest" observation tower, there is a beautiful view of the entire biotope and the Neckar.

The District Office wishes the participating residents lots of fun and success in the snail race of the District Olympics.
