The kick-off event for the start of the cooperation project between the city and district of Ludwigsburg "Energy-saving models at schools in the district of Ludwigsburg" took place on October 7. District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier and Ludwigsburg Mayor for Urban Development, Building Construction and Real Estate Andrea Schwarz signed the agreement with the schools to participate in the project. The schools can choose which topics they want to work on in order to actively contribute to climate protection and the careful use of natural resources. The educational work and commitment of the pupils are then assessed and rewarded. The kick-off event marked the official start of the four-year energy-saving project.
"Taking active steps in the area of climate protection and sustainability - that's what the energy-saving models at schools in the Ludwigsburg district are all about," said District Administrator Allgaier. "Even if climate protection has now reached the center of our society, it will remain a task for generations. Children and young people are the focus here as the actors of tomorrow."
This is why the partners, the district and city of Ludwigsburg, want to use the project to offer more action areas for environmental and climate education for sustainable development in schools. "Our main goal is to get pupils excited about climate protection and empower them to take action by promoting their creative ideas and activities, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions beyond the school day," emphasizes Mayor Schwarz.
The project will be funded for four years by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety's "Energy Saving Models" municipal guideline. The project partners are supported by the Environmental and Nature Conservation Foundation of the Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg and the Stadtwerke Ludwigsburg-Kornwestheim (SWLB) and Bietigheim-Bissingen (SWBB) as sponsors. Dieter Wizemann, member of the Management Board of Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg, emphasizes: "We are supporting this multi-year project with full conviction with a major donation of 72,000 euros, which comes from the funds of our Environmental and Nature Conservation Foundation." Climate protection is one of the central issues of the present and future and, according to Wizemann, can only be developed and implemented together. Christian Schneider, Chairman of the Management Board of Stadtwerke Ludwigsburg-Kornwestheim, agrees: "The role of environmental education is important for the future. As a modern service provider in climate protection, we are therefore happy to promote energy-saving models at schools in the Ludwigsburg district."
