The "CO2 fasting" project was implemented in the district administration for the first time this year from Ash Wednesday to Easter. The aim of this project, initiated by the district council's climate protection management team, was to raise awareness of new topics, reflect on personal behavior and motivate employees to save CO2 in their everyday lives. Small challenges were suggested to employees that could be integrated into their everyday lives and implemented depending on their individual motivation.
The response to the first "Challenge" was good: employees had the opportunity to save CO2 with the help of 20 actions. These were divided into the areas of consumption, energy consumption, nutrition and mobility, for example saving energy at work, cycling more or drinking tap water instead of sparkling water. In this way, small changes can make climate protection a priority in everyday life. As a thank you, five prize packs were raffled off among the participants. These were presented to the lucky winners by District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.
Against the backdrop of the climate protection pact, which the district of Ludwigsburg has already joined, the "CO2 Fasting" project supports the goal of climate-neutral local government by 2040 and thus underlines its role as a role model for the public sector in climate protection. At the same time, the implementation of the project initiates several measures of the district's climate protection concept. The project was led by the climate protection management of the Ludwigsburg district.
