Birkenweg kindergarten group discovers the Wuselpfad

The rain was still pouring down just a moment ago, but the clouds cleared just in time for the start - as if Wusel himself had seen to it: with rain jackets, wellies and plenty of curiosity in their luggage, seven children from the Birkenweg kindergarten in Löchgau set off on an exciting discovery tour on the Wusel trail in the Löchgau quarry forest.

Several children’s hands are reaching toward a wooden board displaying a game or activity. The board features circular pieces and a starting point, with strings connecting the pieces. The scene suggests a collaborative outdoor learning experience.

There is something for the children to discover at each of the eight stations on the adventure trail (Ludwigsburg District Office).

"Hello little forest explorers and trackers, how nice that you are here today - because we urgently need your help!" said Monika De Coninck, deputy mayor of Löchgau, welcoming the children. Accompanied by the kindergarten management and three teachers, the little explorers set off on the approximately one and a half kilometer long forest adventure trail, which is currently delighting families and groups with an imaginative story about the lost forest mouse Wusel. Despite wet paths and damp tree trunks, the atmosphere was great.

There was something to discover at each of the eight stations: animal tracks, riddles and clues that helped the children get closer to the mystery of Wusel's disappearance. They solved tasks with great enthusiasm, listened to the stories of the forest's animal inhabitants and showed that neither mud nor puddles can stop them.

"The children were really enthusiastic," reported Florian Elsässer from the forestry department of the Ludwigsburg district office. Silke Ziegler, head of the kindergarten, was also enthusiastic about the educational concept: "The trail combines movement, nature experience and imagination in a wonderful way."

The Wuselpfad in Bruchwald Löchgau will be open until July 18 before moving on to Korntal-Münchingen. Participation is free and registration is not required. The circular trail starts at the Bruchwald hiking parking lot. A treasure map helps with orientation and is available at the starting point and online at https://www.landkreis-ludwigsburg.de/de/umwelt-technik-klimaschutz/wald/wusel-2025-mobiler-walderlebnispfad/.
