No further cases of avian influenza

The compulsory confinement of poultry ends on April 1. No further cases of avian influenza have been detected in the district of Ludwigsburg.

In February 2023, three outbreaks of avian influenza were officially detected in the district of Ludwigsburg. As a result, a general order was issued to keep poultry in the district of Ludwigsburg. The order is valid until the end of 31.03.2023. In the meantime, there have been no further cases of avian influenza. Avian influenza has also no longer been detected in neighboring urban and rural districts. For this reason, the general ruling on the district-wide obligation to keep poultry in the poultry house will not be extended. Poultry can therefore be kept outdoors again from April 1, 2023. However, biosecurity measures will continue to apply, for example, poultry and feed must be protected from contact with wild birds.

If you have any questions, animal owners can contact the Ludwigsburg District Office, Veterinary and Food Inspection Department on 07141 144-2031.
