Young people redesign youth work spaces

Don't complain - tackle it yourself! That was the motto of the young people who completely redesigned and renovated the rooms of the district's mobile youth work in Karlstraße in Ludwigsburg. For some time, visitors to the district's mobile youth work service had been expressing a desire to redesign their rooms at Karlstrasse 12. The staff then initiated a project at the beginning of August that gave the young people the opportunity to develop their creative talents and give the rooms a new coat of paint and a new shine.

A diverse group of seven individuals poses in front of a colorful graffiti mural featuring a stylized brick wall. The group consists of various genders and ethnicities, wearing casual clothing, and is arranged in two rows, some standing and others kneeling, smiling for the camera.

They are delighted with the work they have done: (from left to top) Cem Öztürk, Lukas Ollech, Nadine Schaffarczyl, Svenja Wahl and Valentino Covello and (from left to bottom) Tim Kühlewein and Derya Ceylan. Picture: Mobile youth work

Professional support for the manual work

The young people were supported in their project by the ARTA trades company, which contributed its time, technical expertise and craftsmanship. After an intensive week, the young people are not only proud of their newly designed rooms, but also had the opportunity to gain practical insights into the painting trade.

Financial support makes the project possible

With its project, the district's mobile youth work helped young people to learn a great deal about problem-solving skills. The project was supported by the Baden-Württemberg state working group Mobile Youth Work/Streetwork Baden-Württemberg, which provided financial support from the state of Baden-Württemberg to make this renovation project possible.
