Pausing and remembering together

An interfaith memorial service will be held in the Ludwigsburg City Church on November 22 at 7 p.m. to remember those who died during the coronavirus pandemic. Relatives and the bereaved will be given space to pause together and look back on their experiences during the pandemic years.

The memorial event is being organized by a round table made up of representatives from the Alevi community of Ludwigsburg and the surrounding area, the Buddhist Association, the Protestant and Catholic churches, the Ecumenical Hospice Association, the Islamic Religious Community of Baden-Württemberg, the Wuerttemberg Israeli Religious Community, the RKH Clinic Pastoral Care and the Ludwigsburg District Office.

Bereaved should be given time and space to pause for thought

Many citizens from the Ludwigsburg district have lost a loved one due to the virus. They are still feeling the after-effects of the pandemic in the form of grief and loss. Family members and friends have sometimes not been able to say goodbye to their loved ones at all or only under very limited conditions. The Corona memorial event is now intended to make this possible in community.

Images of the lockdown by photographer Yakup Zeyrek accompany the commemoration

Kornwestheim photographer Yakup Zeyrek has also captured memories of the pandemic and the lockdown. He documented the time in pictures for the district. These will be exhibited during the commemorative event in the town church and will accompany the commemoration.

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, the Protestant Dean Michael Werner as well as relatives, hospice staff and employees of the hospital chaplaincy will remember the challenges of the Corona period. Pupils and teachers will also have their say.
