Vaccinations for children between the ages of five and eleven are starting in the Ludwigsburg district after the first delivery of special vaccine for this age group arrived during the week. Vaccinations will now also be offered immediately for this age group in the district.
The first vaccination campaign will take place next Sunday, December 19, in Großbottwar in the Harzberghalle. As a first step, a total of 100 vaccination appointments for children will be offered on Sunday from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm.
A permanent children's vaccination center will be set up in the MM-Studios hall (former district vaccination centers in Grönerstraße in Ludwigsburg). However, cooperation with pediatricians in private practice, who are obliged to carry out the educational talks, is limited by their availability. For this reason, special children's vaccination sessions are always held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1.00 pm to 7.00 pm and on Saturdays from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. A separate children's vaccination area will be set up for this purpose. There are currently no vaccinations for children on public holidays.
Despite the urgency of the situation, it is particularly important for those responsible to provide very good information and support for children and their parents. For this reason, only around 100 appointments per vaccination day can currently be arranged. The "Comirnaty Kinder 5-11" vaccine from BionTech is currently available until mid-January 2022. The quantity supplied can be used to vaccinate 1,805 children, as the second vaccinations must also be covered with the existing vaccine.
Those responsible at the district administration are aware that many parents would like a significantly larger supply. "However, we will take the utmost care with the very sensitive issue of childhood vaccinations and, above all, allow sufficient time to advise parents," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.
The Ludwigsburg district intends to plan the vaccination strategy for children in the same way as the previous strategy. This means that four pillars will also come into play:
1. vaccinations at the pediatricians
2. vaccinations at the children's vaccination center at Grönerstraße 35 in Ludwigsburg
3. mobile vaccination offers in the municipalities at their request
4. vaccination campaigns
Appointments can be made via a separate appointment link: kinderimpfung.kizlb.de. This will be activated from Friday afternoon. Vaccination without an appointment is not possible.
