Head of the main office Hubert Burkart bid farewell and honored with the district's commemorative plaque - District Administrator Dr. Haas: "You were always a strong, reliable pillar

District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas bid farewell to Hubert Burkart, the long-serving head of the district office, at the district council meeting on Friday (6 December). Burkart has been working at the Ludwigsburg District Office since 1988, as head of the main office since 1989, and will retire at the beginning of 2020. "You were always a strong, reliable pillar and someone you could rely on one hundred percent, who gave a lot of good advice - thank you very much for that," said District Administrator Haas. He then honored Burkart with the district's commemorative plaque and presented him with a wine basket.

Two men are engaged in a handshake, with one presenting a document to the other. They appear to be in an official setting with a screen in the background displaying the name "Landkreis Ludwigslust." The atmosphere suggests a formal meeting or signing ceremony.

The head of the district administration particularly emphasized Burkart's exemplary commitment to Europe - he was also the district administration's European representative - and the district's partnerships, as well as the trips made by the district councillors to the Ludwigsburger Hütte. Burkart's record includes a total of eight federal elections, six state elections, one referendum, 29 New Year receptions, 29 job plans, 21 trips to the Ludwigsburger Hütte and more than 830 meetings of the district council and its committees, continued Haas. The district council had also appreciated Burkart for being a constructive discussion partner and making a positive difference in this way. For his retirement, Haas wished Burkart "all the best, above all good health, and that you will hopefully be able to tackle what you have always wanted to tackle with the leisure you will then have".

In his acceptance speech, Burkart said: "It was important to me that we organize and implement the usual processes, from organization to IT and job reassignments to digitalization, as far as possible to everyone's satisfaction. I think we have mostly succeeded. I have always seen my commitment to the European idea as a benefit and as peace work. What I have learned from this commitment is that we have to get involved, especially at local level." Addressing the members of the district council, Burkart said: "I have made every effort to live the sentence 'The district council is the main body of the district' in the district office and to convey its importance. Keep up the good cooperation in the future."
