Health department, Aids-Hilfe Stuttgart and youth council offer HIV and syphilis rapid test campaign with supporting program: anonymous and free tests and information about HIV and sexually transmitted diseases

The HIV and syphilis rapid test campaign in the health department of the district administration office (Hindenburgstr. 20/1 in Ludwigsburg) is celebrating its 20th anniversary on Tuesday, November 16, from 4 to 7 p.m.: It is taking place for the 20th time in cooperation with Aids-Hilfe Stuttgart e.V. In order to take away people's fears and inform them about HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, the newly elected youth council of the city of Ludwigsburg is offering accompanying interactive hands-on activities with a wheel of fortune, true or false questions and a raffle.

The test is anonymous and can also be done free of charge on this day. Registration is not necessary. Only people with proof of 2G corona (vaccinated or recovered, for schoolchildren the school ID card is sufficient) have access to the test. Qualified social work advice is provided by Hans-Peter Diez from Aids-Hilfe Stuttgart e.V. Dr. Uschi Traub, a doctor from the health department of the district administration, will take the blood sample and make the diagnosis. People under the age of 14 can only be tested if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The INSTI multiplex HIV/syphilis test used in the campaign is a qualitative, rapid test that can detect antibodies against both HIV types (type 1 and type 2) as well as syphilis. For the test, only a few drops of blood are taken from the fingertip, mixed with reaction solutions and placed on a test kit. The test result is available after a few minutes. There should be at least twelve weeks between a possible risk contact (e.g. unprotected sex) and the rapid test in order to obtain a meaningful result. In the event of a positive test result, a confirmation test with venous blood is required.

As part of the supporting program, anyone interested will have the opportunity to talk to Michael N. about his life with HIV and to get information about HIV and infections such as chlamydia, human papillomavirus etc. at the wheel of fortune and "True or False" game. Anyone who wants to can also take part in a raffle and win a 50 euro Amazon voucher. Participation in the supporting program without testing is possible. Kevin Dichtl from the health department and Greta, Baran, Tim, Yasmin and Selin from the youth council are particularly inviting young people to take part.
