Ludwigsburg district health report: Cardiovascular diseases - A quarter of the population suffers from high blood pressure

The recently published health report for the district of Ludwigsburg shows that cardiovascular diseases are a significant health challenge. According to the report, 25 percent of the population in the district have high blood pressure, there are almost 2,000 heart attacks every year and 1.4 percent of the population suffer a stroke.

The image presents a line graph showing hospital cases from 2012 to 2020 in Ludwigsburg, distinguishing between males and females. Overall trends indicate fluctuations in cases, with a notable decline in 2020. Data is drawn from the health atlas of Baden-Württemberg, 2023.

The burden of disease, i.e. the loss of health caused by cardiovascular diseases, is higher among men than among women.

Decline in hospital cases between 2019 and 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic

The statistics show a decrease in hospital cases with cardiovascular disease between 2019 and 2020. This is probably a phenomenon due to the COVID-19 pandemic: during the pandemic, fewer people were hospitalized for health problems other than COVID-19 than usual, as resources were increasingly needed to treat corona patients.

Great importance of prevention and appropriate treatment

The health report shows the great importance of prevention and appropriate treatment of cardiovascular diseases in order to maintain health and reduce the burden on the healthcare system.
