Ludwigsburg health authority examines the care situation in GP practices

In order to gain a better understanding of the care situation in GP practices and to identify impending gaps in care and other challenges, the health department of the Ludwigsburg district office conducted a comprehensive survey of GPs in the district in collaboration with the district medical association. More than half of all practices took part. The Stöckmann GP practice in Kornwestheim won a prize draw among the participating practices.

A diverse group of five people stands in an office setting, smiling and posing for a photo. One person holds an award, while others are dressed in casual attire. The background features a light-colored wall with the names "Dr. Axel Stöckmann" and "Dr. Rainer Stöckmann" displayed.

The winner of the prize draw was the Stöckmann GP practice in Kornwestheim. Dr. Carola Maitra (l., Chairwoman of the District Medical Association), Dr. Uschi Traub (2nd from left, Head of the Health Promotion and Health Planning Department) and Marius Gäßler (r., employee in the Health Department) presented a symbolic trophy - together with thanks to all participating practices (Ludwigsburg District Office).

Recently, Dr. Uschi Traub (Head of Health Promotion and Health Planning), Dr. Carola Maitra (Chairwoman of the District Medical Association) and Marius Gäßler (employee in the Health Department) presented a symbolic trophy to Dr. Rainer Stöckmann and Dr. Axel Stöckmann from the Stöckmann GP practice in Kornwestheim as a token of appreciation for their daily work in GP care. The presentation was accompanied by special thanks to all those who took part in the survey.

"GP care in the district of Ludwigsburg is an important issue, as it means that citizens have access to healthcare close to home and a first point of contact for medical complaints," said Dr. Uschi Traub from the health department.

Current situation and future challenges

The district has a high-quality and comprehensive GP care situation. Nevertheless, the district and the entire outpatient care sector in Germany will face growing challenges in the coming years. Demographic change in particular means that more and more GPs are retiring, while at the same time the demand for medical care among the population is increasing. Dr. Carola Maitra emphasizes that despite intensive efforts on the part of the district medical association, it has not always been possible to find adequate solutions.

Marius Gäßler, coordinator of the doctors' survey at the public health department, emphasizes that the results of the survey and the recommendations for action derived from them will soon be published on the public health department's website in the form of a care report. In addition, a working group on outpatient medical care has been set up. This has been tasked with developing future solutions and coordinating the networking of relevant stakeholders at local authority level and in the healthcare sector.
