Avian influenza: observation area to be lifted on April 25

The investigation and sampling of the outbreak of avian influenza in Oberriexingen has now been completed. These revealed no evidence of a possible spread of the avian influenza pathogen beyond the outbreak site. Based on the resulting risk assessment by Department 53 - Veterinary Services and Food Monitoring - the observation area can now also be lifted with effect from 25.04.21. This also means that the protective measures ordered for the observation area no longer apply.

"We would like to thank all those involved in the control measures, especially the towns and municipalities in the district, for their support in signposting the restriction zones, as well as the poultry farmers for accepting the protective measures that have been ordered, which have severely restricted egg marketing, especially among commercial laying hen farmers," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.
