Women's shelter: New solution is being sought - District and Kreissparkasse support the association Frauen für Frauen e.V. - Goal: Finding an affordable solution quickly

In cooperation with Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg, the district would like to extend the search for a new property for a women's shelter in the district of Ludwigsburg. This was the result of a discussion with District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, the management of the Frauen für Frauen association and Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg. "We expressly support the further expansion of women's shelters," said District Administrator Allgaier. "There is an urgent need for action here, but we have to find an affordable solution - especially in light of the lack of funding from the federal government and the scarce funding from the state of Baden-Württemberg."

With the support of Kreissparkasse, those involved want to set off together and sound out the real estate market again to find alternatives to the existing offer. Arezoo Shoaleh from the association Frauen für Frauen e.V. said: "The issue of sufficient shelter places in the district is very important and the demand is high. I am very confident that we will find a good solution together. The association Frauen für Frauen and the district of Ludwigsburg are pulling in the same direction here."

The Istanbul Convention obliges the Federal Republic of Germany to provide a sufficient number of suitable and easily accessible shelters for women and children affected by violence. The analysis and experience of the Frauen für Frauen association show that there is currently insufficient capacity with 19 family places available. Nevertheless, the federal government does not provide any funding for the expansion and there is also little funding from the state.

The Landkreistag Baden-Württemberg and the Städtetag are therefore also campaigning for improvements at state and federal level. "The current situation does not do justice to those affected. Violence against women and children must be counteracted more decisively - even in a tight budget situation. We need reliable funding and protection at all levels. A new benefits act that would provide protection against violence is long overdue," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.
