Renewed certification: Kleinsachsenheim elementary school has been part of the "Healthy School" program for a decade

Dr. Uschi Traub, head of the health promotion department, her colleague Filiz Ugur from the health department of the district office and Sabine Keller, municipal addiction officer for the Ludwigsburg district, recently presented Doris Engelbrecht, principal of Kleinsachsenheim elementary school, with the overall certificate for "Healthy School?!" and the partial certificates for "Nutrition", "Exercise" and "Addiction/Violence".

A group of six women stands together outdoors, each holding a certificate. One woman in a bright red outfit holds a small dog. They appear happy and engaged, with a colorful mural in the background and a clock on the wall.

The school also received 100 euros to implement further health-promoting measures. "This school not only carries out projects, but has also been working continuously on a sustainable concept for a healthy school since 2014," said a delighted Traub. Keller and Ugur were responsible for the evaluation for the recertification. "The healthy school promotes children's health literacy and their performance," emphasized principal Doris Engelbrecht. Keller wished the school "keep up the good work" on its path of healthy school development.

Creative ideas: Children show what they have learned about health

Mascot Starmops Pablo came to the certificate presentation in a soccer outfit to match the European Championships. The health experts asked: "How do you keep Pablo and yourself healthy?" The children had lots of ideas. Posters showed Pablo in front of a particularly healthy breakfast, jumping through a hoop, with different dogs and at the vet for his vaccination.

The schoolchildren were also active at the handover and entertained those present with a song and a join-in dance. Afterwards, the children in class 4b performed another dance they had developed themselves. The fun of movement was noticeable and visible.

"Education and health in schools are inseparable"

The Ludwigsburg "Healthy School?!" network supports health-promoting measures in schools. Schools that take special care of the health of their pupils and teachers and meet certain criteria are awarded the overall "Healthy School?!" certificate and individual sub-certificates such as "Exercise", "Nutrition" or "Addiction/Violence". "Education and health at schools are inseparable - successful learning and teaching is not possible without good health," Traub continues.

In order to promote the health of pupils, schools of all types can continue to be certified by the Ludwigsburg Health Department.
