Results of the climate protection survey conducted by the Ludwigsburg District Office are available: Participants see energy and mobility as the most important fields of action

By updating the climate protection concept and drawing up the climate mobility plan, the district of Ludwigsburg aims to drive forward climate protection locally. From July 4 to 31, citizens were able to contribute their views and ideas on the two projects via digital surveys. People from all municipalities in the district took part. The results are now available.

Due to the design of the survey and the socio-demographic structure of the participants, the survey results are not representative, but the survey results can still support the district administration and the district municipalities in planning their climate protection measures.

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier would like to thank everyone who took part: "As a public authority, we have a special social responsibility when it comes to climate protection. I am delighted with the numerous responses from residents. They help us to plan climate protection measures in an even more targeted and efficient manner and thus fulfill this responsibility. I would like to thank everyone who took part in the surveys!"

The majority of participants are very interested in climate protection

1,498 surveys on the climate protection concept were completed in full. The majority of survey participants are very interested in climate protection: 37% of participants named climate protection as a top priority and a further 37% as a high priority. Participants see the most important fields of action in the areas of energy and mobility. When it comes to the energy transition, climate protection and nature and landscape conservation are at the forefront for the participants. In the area of housing and buildings, financial hurdles were cited as the biggest obstacle to both energy-efficient renovation and the installation of PV systems, followed by uncertainties regarding the legal situation and technical solutions. When asked which offers encourage more commitment to climate protection, playful approaches and offers for more networking met with the greatest interest.

The results of the survey will be incorporated into the development of measures. The measures developed are already being put into practice step by step.

Most of the measures in the climate mobility plan were rated positively

With regard to the climate mobility plan, the aim of the survey was to evaluate the measures in the current status of the plan. 1,068 fully completed surveys were submitted. The majority of the 56 measures in the climate mobility plan were rated positively, a few neutrally and a single measure negatively (expansion of e-scooter sharing services). According to the participants, making public transport more attractive, expanding the cycling infrastructure and extending the range of public transport services should be addressed most urgently. The reduction of parking space and the municipal parking space ratio are the measures for which the assessments diverge the most.

If the climate mobility plan is successfully drawn up, the participating municipalities can claim an increased funding rate of 75 percent instead of 50 percent for the implementation of certain measures in the transport sector.

The two concepts are due to be completed in spring 2025. Further results from the surveys on the climate protection concept and the climate mobility plan can be found at www.landkreis-ludwigsburg.de/klimaschutzkonzept and www.landkreis-ludwigsburg.de/klimamobilitaetsplan.
