Electromobility on the right track

The district has partially converted its vehicle fleet to e-mobility. District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier has now received funding certificates worth almost one million euros from State Secretary Steffen Bilger.

The district of Ludwigsburg has come a big step closer to its goal of climate neutrality by 2035: The conversion of the district's own vehicle fleet to electromobility with a total of 19 all-electric Nissan Leaf, nine Toyota Prius Hybrid and three Nissan electric vans has saved around 10.7 tonsof CO2 since February.

The conversion was subsidized with a total of 984,281 euros from three federal funding programs for e-mobility. State Secretary Steffen Bilger has now presented the funding certificates during a visit to Ludwigsburg. District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier was delighted with the generous funding. The district administration office had already begun converting its vehicle fleet to e-mobility via various funding programs in 2019 and providing the necessary charging infrastructure. Allgaier reported that the new e-vehicles are appreciated by the employees and are gladly used for business trips in the district.

The State Secretary was impressed that the e-cars, which have a range of up to 270 kilometers, are mainly "refueled" with their own green electricity from the PV system on the roof of the district building. Bilger agreed with the district administrator that the district administration was setting a good example and actively participating in sustainable mobility in the Ludwigsburg district.

Compared to 1990, the district has already saved 65 percent of itsCO2 emissions, Allgaier continued. The district is participating in the e-mobility project with its own contribution of 360,325 euros.

Applications for three federal funding pots were approved for the e-mobility project:

  • The "Clean Air Immediate Action Program" of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) has subsidized 20 electric vehicles and 20 e-charging stations.
  • The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWI) funded the installation of the charging infrastructure in the district office and in the branch offices.
  • Nine plug-in hybrid vehicles, two electric vehicles and three charging boxes were funded via the municipal guidelines of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
