"A showcase for the creativity of our youth"

From June 5 to 26, 2024, works by pupils from the district of Ludwigsburg will be on display in the new exhibition as part of Kunst im Kreishaus. The exhibition was officially opened by District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier on Wednesday (June 5).

A group of six individuals stands together, smiling, in a gallery setting. They are holding floral arrangements and are positioned in front of artwork displayed on the wall. The atmosphere appears celebratory, likely indicating an event or exhibition opening.

The "Series" exhibition was opened on Wednesday in the district office building. The "Series" exhibition is part of Baden-Württemberg's state-wide school art program, which invites young people from all types of schools to artistically explore the theme of series in the years 2023 to 2025. As a design principle, the series appears in the form of sequencing, repetition or variation, among other things.

"The program is not intended as a competition, but as a showcase for the creativity and creative power of our youth," said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier at the opening. The exhibited works not only reflect the technical skills, but also the imagination and deeper understanding of the young people in the district, he continued.

Schools from Kornwestheim, Markgröningen, Steinheim, Remseck, Ludwigsburg, Tamm, Rutesheim, Bönnigheim, Ditzingen, Hohenhaslach, Vaihingen Enz and Asperg, among others, took part in the exhibition. There were no limits to the pupils' imagination and creativity.

What's behind the school art program

The school art exhibitions have a long-standing tradition, as exhibition manager Lisa Cocimano explains. The fact that the focus is on young people in particular also reflects the reorientation of the "Kunst im Kreishaus" exhibition concept. "Such an opportunity for public presence may inspire one or two young people in their artistic work," says Cocimano. "It's not impossible that we'll see him or her again in one of our exhibitions in a few years' time if the art continues to be practiced professionally."

The Baden-Württemberg state school art program has been promoting artistic and aesthetic education in schools since 1985. The aim of the program is to strengthen the creative work of children and young people as well as to strengthen the connection to the public. All types of schools are included in the program.
