Honorary deputy district fire chiefs reappointed for five years - District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier: It is important to be able to rely on proven and experienced staff

The district council committee for environment and technology (AUT) reappointed Jochen Feyerabend, Thomas Korz and Hans-Peter Peifer as honorary deputy district fire chiefs for a further five years on Wednesday afternoon. "I would like to thank you for your commitment and for supporting our district fire chief Andy Dorroch, who is currently very busy organizing the district vaccination centers. It is important to be able to fall back on proven and experienced staff," said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier to the three reappointed members at the AUT meeting.

A group of five men stands together indoors, with four in police uniforms holding certificates and one in a suit. They appear to be celebrating an achievement or recognition, with a few smiling and others standing proudly in a spacious, well-lit area.

Front row: the reappointed honorary deputy district fire chiefs Hans-Peter Peifer, Thomas Korz and Jochen Feyerabend as well as District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. Second row: District fire chief Andy Dorroch and Jürgen Vogt, first state official and head of the department for law, order and traffic in the Ludwigsburg district.

Jochen Feyerabend is commander of the Besigheim volunteer fire department and has been honorary deputy district bandmaster since June 2006. Thomas Korz is the commander of the Vaihingen/Enz volunteer fire department. He has held the position of honorary deputy district fire chief since June 2011. Hans-Peter Peifer acts as deputy commander of the Ludwigsburg volunteer fire department. His previous provisional appointment as honorary deputy district fire chief has now been converted into a regular appointment.

According to the Baden-Württemberg Fire Service Act, each district must appoint one or more honorary deputy district fire chiefs for a period of five years. They represent the district fire chief in his absence. In addition, the deputy district fire chiefs form a working group together with the full-time district fire chief. This deals with the tasks and problems of the fire departments in the district. The deputy district fire chiefs are members of the command staff and take on management and leadership tasks in cooperation with the district fire chief.
