Working Together for a Strong Guardianship System
This informational event is designed to provide an accessible introduction to the topic. Interested individuals will receive first-hand information and have the opportunity to speak with professionals from the guardianship authority or guardianship associations, as well as with current guardians.
“We want to show how diverse the opportunities are for getting involved in legal guardianship. Whether as a volunteer with the support of a guardianship association or as a professional guardian—we’re looking for people who are willing to take on responsibility and reliably support others,” says Daniela Grutschnig of the Ludwigsburg District Guardianship Authority. Interested individuals are cordially invited to learn more about both options without obligation, ask questions, and talk with the representatives on site.
Giving Your Time and Empowering People
Volunteer guardianship is ideal for people who want to get involved in the community and reliably support another person. Volunteer guardians help individuals manage their own affairs, exercise their rights, and live as independently as possible.
The tasks can vary widely. They range, for example, from assisting with government agency matters and financial issues to organizing necessary assistance or providing support with health-related concerns.
Volunteer caregivers are not on their own: Local caregiving associations guide and support them in their work, offer advice and professional networking opportunities, and provide relevant training.
Guardianship as an Independent Field of Work
Those who wish to commit more intensively to helping people as part of an independent professional practice can also provide legal guardianship on a professional basis. Professional guardians take on various responsibilities depending on their court appointment and work independently.
This role requires more than just legal knowledge. Equally important are social skills, organizational ability, communication skills, and a willingness to adapt to different people and life situations. Any gaps in specialized knowledge can be filled through specific training courses.
Legal requirements apply to this profession, including, among other things, the necessary expertise and registration as a professional guardian. The guardianship authority of the Ludwigsburg district provides information on the requirements and the registration process.
