Former Marbach hospital becomes a temporary refuge for up to 100 refugees from Ukraine - District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier: "Our thanks go to the town of Marbach and the clinics

The state is preparing for the fact that it has a daily obligation to take in around 2,000 Ukrainian refugees over the next few days. The district of Ludwigsburg is therefore expecting up to 100 people to be admitted every day. "In view of this situation, we would like to thank the town of Marbach and Kliniken Ludwigsburg-Bietigheim gGmbH, who have agreed to the temporary use of premises in the former hospital to accommodate refugees," said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.

The rooms can be prepared for occupancy at short notice with little effort. They are designed to accommodate up to 100 people. As it has already been decided to demolish individual parts of the building and another use is planned for the former hospital, the building is to be vacated by the end of the year at the latest.

The winner of the urban planning competition will be chosen on September 16, after which the Supervisory Board and district council will clarify the next steps.

"Making the premises available at short notice helps us to temporarily accommodate the refugees," says District Administrator Allgaier.

"As the town of Marbach, we also see ourselves as having a responsibility here and are happy to support the district. In view of the great need of the refugees, this is an imperative of humanity," says Marbach's mayor Jan Trost.
