The Cool Map for the Ludwigsburg district shows refreshing places

Summers in the Ludwigsburg district are getting hotter and hotter - and the high temperatures can take their toll on the body. On particularly hot days, many people want one thing above all: to cool down. But where can you find cool public places nearby? The answer is provided by the Ludwigsburg district's "Cool Map".

The interactive map shows numerous places throughout the district that provide refreshment on hot days. These include fountains in Kornwestheim, shady spots along the River Enz in Vaihingen and outdoor pools in Sachsenheim, Besigheim and the Bietigheim swimming park. Shady playgrounds in Asperg or Hessigheim are also listed on the map and offer families with children pleasant places to spend time in the summer heat.

The offer is supplemented by other cool places such as forest playgrounds, water areas and shady walking and hiking trails. The Cool Map also provides information about drinking fountains and refill stations where water bottles can be filled with water free of charge.

Participation is welcome: the Cool-Map continues to grow

The Cool-Map is not only a digital information service, but also a participatory project. Citizens are cordially invited to report further cool places in the district of Ludwigsburg and thus actively contribute to heat protection. Heat action plan: Ludwigsburg district is a pioneer

In 2024, the district of Ludwigsburg was one of the first districts in Germany to publish a heat action plan. The district-wide heat action plan is intended to protect people who are vulnerable to heat in particular from heat and the associated health risks. It includes measures to educate and inform the population as well as action plans that have been drawn up together with various institutions, such as care homes and schools, as well as local authorities on the subject of heat protection. These can be used by individual institutions and local authorities as a template for establishing their own procedures. They are supplemented by a district-wide heat alarm system. This is triggered when heat events lasting at least three days are expected. It distinguishes between two levels: Over 32 degrees (level 1) or over 38 degrees (level 2).
