In these cases, all waste and recyclable materials such as paper, packaging or organic waste must generally be disposed of in the black residual waste garbage can for the duration of the illness or quarantine. Previously, this rule only applied to hygiene waste such as handkerchiefs.
The following still applies: To ensure that there is no risk of infection, waste may not be placed loose in the residual waste garbage cans, but only in a sturdy plastic bag tied tightly. Small amounts of liquid waste must be soaked up with absorbent material before being placed in bin liners. Pointed and sharp objects such as syringes or broken glass must be packed in break-proof and puncture-proof disposable packaging.
The lid of the residual waste garbage can must be closed to prevent contamination of the street. Garbage bags must not be left freely accessible next to the garbage cans in order to prevent danger to third parties. If the garbage cans are already full, the garbage bags must be stored securely in as cool a place as possible (e.g. cellar) until the next emptying.
The residual waste is sent to the waste incineration plant where it is thermally recycled. Viruses are safely destroyed. There is therefore no further risk of infection.
