This means that the organization is now in the hands of doctors in private practice. District Administrator Allgaier was very pleased: "I am glad that this test center, which we set up out of necessity together with the medical profession, is now where it actually belongs, embedded in the structures of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians." As a welcome side effect, it has also been possible to optimize the allocation of appointments. Appointments can now be made by calling 07141 999 7040 or 07141 281250 from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. The test center is also open at weekends in justified cases of suspicion and by prior appointment.
Swab tests should only be carried out after consultation with the treating doctor if possible and are indicated in the following situations:
In people with a respiratory illness or other (flu-like) symptoms of any severity that could be consistent with a corona infection, especially,
- if they have had contact with a person with a proven coronavirus infection up to a maximum of 14 days before the onset of the disease
- if pneumonia has already occurred (clinical or radiological evidence), or
- the infection occurred in a hospital, nursing home, outpatient care or facility for the disabled (patient, resident, staff);
- in people at increased risk, such as over 60 years of age, significantly overweight, chronic diseases of the cardiovascular system or lungs, weakened immune system, etc.
Irrespective of this and signs of illness, there are other reasons for a corona swab test:
- In Baden-Württemberg, all residents and staff of inpatient care facilities are to be tested once across the board. In addition, there is a step-by-step model for these facilities, according to which residents and staff are tested according to an extended catalog of symptoms, as well as close contacts of patients, even if they have no symptoms and, in the case of clusters, entire areas or the entire home.
- Close contacts of infected persons who work in system-relevant professions and who cannot currently be dispensed with in the workplace (e.g. in clinics, doctors' surgeries, care homes).
Positive test results (pathogen detection) are still reported to the public health department, which contacts those affected directly. Negative results (except for nursing homes, where the public health department provides information) are reported by MVZ Dr. Kolepke and colleagues (Mon-Fri 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
