The fact that pupils are doing the same thing as their teachers and head teachers at the same time is remarkable in itself. Even more remarkable was the initiative of the vocational schools in Ludwigsburg, which set up a stand on Ludwigsburg's market square last Saturday to sell cakes, soup and greetings cards for the benefit of Ukraine Relief.
There was a lot of activity around the stand in the center of the market square. Behind the sales tables there was a hive of activity and very few people walked past the plexiglass windows without at least taking a look at the goodies.
Andreas Moser, head of the Oscar Walcker School, was delighted at the halfway point: "70 cakes came from us alone and we only have a small selection left. I'm also thrilled by the great response and support from the pupils who baked and are helping out today."
Pupils, teachers and the head teachers of the four vocational schools in Ludwigsburg stood together at the stand and handed out sweets, cooked food and artistic items to the numerous visitors, who did not hesitate to buy at prices they set themselves. "We had everything from five to twenty euros per purchase," says Kai Rosum-Kunzelmann, head of the Mathilde Planck School. The sheer number of cakes donated by many people went to delighted Ludwigsburg residents who sweetened their Sunday coffee.
Wolfgang Ulshöfer, whose apron shows that he is not only head of the Robert Franck School, but also "Grand Chef" and presumed co-cook of the borscht, can be seen grinning at the success behind his mask: "It's great that we were able to organize such a campaign together. It does many people good to be able to do something for people who are suffering from this unspeakable war."
Andrea Theile-Stadelmann, Head of the Carl Schaefer School, is also delighted with the success: "It's great that it went so well and that we were able to raise over €2,500. I'm sure this won't be the last campaign of this kind."
