"Exemplary Building 2013-2019": Award ceremony and exhibition opening - District Administrator: Award procedure is a valuable contribution to building culture in our district

Award ceremony and exhibition opening as part of the "Exemplary Building District of Ludwigsburg 2013-2019" award procedure on Monday evening (9 December) in the district hall: 22 of the 82 projects submitted received awards, including three projects from the district. District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas, together with architect and jury chairman Jens Rannow, presented the certificates and plaques to the award winners. He said: "The construction sector has been very dynamic for a number of years now - this applies above all to the construction of new commercial properties, the creation of urgently needed living space through new construction, the expansion of existing buildings, but also the reuse of vacant buildings, the creation of retirement and nursing homes, childcare facilities and barrier-free apartments: The complexity of the demands placed on our society is reflected in construction."

Four individuals are standing together in a conference room, holding a small plaque. They appear to be engaged in a formal event, with an audience visible in the background. The setting features chairs and a detailed mural on the wall above.

Before the award ceremony in the main conference room of the district hall, from left: District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas, architect Jens Rannow, chairman of the jury and state board member of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects, Carmen Mundorff, managing director of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects, and architect Mathias Weißer, chairman of the Ludwigsburg chamber group and head of building construction and building management for the city of Ludwigsburg.

This makes the award procedure of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects all the more important, as it aims to raise awareness of building culture and create impetus for positive development in the district of Ludwigsburg. "The competition succeeds in doing this in an outstanding way," continued the head of the district administration. The fact that the proportion of award-winning work has risen by around 6.5 percent to almost 27 percent compared to the last competition for the period 2006 to 2013 speaks for a further increase in the quality of building culture in the district of Ludwigsburg. He was particularly pleased that three of the district's building projects, the new district archive in Friedrichstraße, the outdoor facilities around the second extension to the district building and the residential boxes for refugees, Auf dem Wasen in Besigheim, had also received awards. "The 'Exemplary Building in the District of Ludwigsburg' award procedure is a valuable contribution to building culture in our district - architects and developers are recognized for their commitment and other developers and architects are encouraged to find successful solutions," concluded the district administrator.

After the award ceremony, Mathias Weißer, architect, Chairman of the Ludwigsburg Chamber Group and Head of Building Construction and Building Management of the City of Ludwigsburg, opened the exhibition with the award-winning works. This can be seen from December 10 to 18 in the foyer of the conference area of the Ludwigsburg district building, Hindenburgstraße 40, during normal opening hours. The Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects is publishing a brochure to accompany the exhibition and is publishing the buildings in the "Baden-Württemberg Architecture Guide" app.

The following categories were open to entries for the awards: residential, public buildings, buildings for the community, industrial and commercial buildings, agricultural buildings, existing buildings, gardens and landscaping, urban planning and urban design projects (e.g. streetscapes, ensemble squares), interior design. The jury consisted of three expert jurors ("laymen") and four specialist jurors. The awards procedure of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects takes place regularly every six to seven years.
