Building law authority in Ludwigsburg district office temporarily adjusts availability

In order to gain more time for processing building applications, the building law authority of the Ludwigsburg district office is temporarily restricting its opening hours and telephone contact times. From March until the end of May, staff will not be available by telephone or in person for one week each month.

"There is currently a backlog in the processing of building applications at our building authority. The reason for this is that there is currently insufficient staffing, which is mainly due to the retirement of experienced employees," explains Wolfgang Bechtle, Head of Environment, Technology and Construction. "Despite intensive efforts, we have not yet succeeded in restoring the necessary staffing levels. We are working at full speed to solve this problem and ensure that processing is speedy again. We ask for your understanding that there are currently delays."

Legal changes exacerbate the situation

In addition, legal changes at state and federal level have led to an increased need for advice. In addition, around 80 percent of the documents submitted to the building authority are currently incomplete or incorrect. "Building applications often have to be amended several times by the drafters. This leads to further delays and an increased workload," continues Bechtle.

Specifically, the building authority will not be available for personal and telephone inquiries in the following weeks

March 02 - 06, 2026 (week 10)

April 13 - 17, 2026 (week 16)

May 04 - 08, 2026 (week 19)

In all other weeks, employees will be available for queries as follows

Monday, Wednesday - Friday 08:30 - 12:00
Monday 13:30 - 15:30
Closed on Tuesday
Thursday 13:30 - 18:00

The District Office asks citizens, local authorities and planning offices for their understanding for this temporary measure.
