Apprentices for more climate protection

The "Municipal Climate Scouts" training course, which is run throughout Germany, integrates the topic of climate protection into the training of municipal trainees. Emily Buschmann from Tamm impressed the jury at the project presentation in the district of Ludwigsburg with her project "Energy saving competition in the daycare centers in Tamm".

A group of people, some wearing masks, stands outdoors in a garden-like setting. They are holding certificates and a bottle, celebrating a significant achievement related to bicycle initiatives. Bicycles are parked nearby, and trees provide a backdrop to the event.

The district of Ludwigsburg was one of the first districts to launch the workshop program with a focus on "Municipal climate protection" and "Project management" in November 2021. 35 trainees from ten municipalities then developed their own climate protection projects at their workplace.

Emily Buschmann from Tamm impressed the jury during the project presentation with her project "Energy saving competition in the daycare centers in Tamm" by cleverly linking the two fields of action of energy saving and education. Other projects included a local food guide, a green façade and the use of rainwater instead of drinking water. Accompanied by her mentor Alina Heidak and the 2nd Mayor of the municipality of Tamm, Dr. Andreas Richter, Emily Buschmann has now received the district award "Municipal Climate Scouts 2021/22" - presented by District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.

District Administrator Allgaier was visibly enthusiastic about the commitment of the trainees as a whole and about the winning project in particular: "This project raises awareness among even the youngest children. They playfully discover the possibilities for climate protection and energy saving. The project therefore fits in perfectly with our aim of getting the next generation interested in these issues from an early age, which we are also pursuing as a district with the energy-saving models in schools."

The district's climate protection team thanked everyone involved and made it clear that the award ceremony was not the end, but just the beginning of a series of climate scouts who will be trained over the next few years. The campaign is carried out every year by the Ludwigsburg district energy agency LEA.
