"We were impressed by the creative approaches that the trainees developed for the educational work. As a jury, we were also particularly impressed by the fact that the first steps towards continuing the project were taken shortly after its implementation," added climate protection manager Julia Neuhäuser.
Mascot Remso teaches the right way to deal with waste
The aim of the "Remso's little world savers" project is to teach the younger generation how to deal with waste correctly, such as waste avoidance and waste separation. The climate scouts have tackled this through a waste collection campaign, a guided tour of the Gesellschaft für Wertstoffverwertung mbH and other playful activities with a primary school class.
The project is accompanied by the mascot "Remso" - a small fish that needs the children's help to clear its habitat of garbage. The project is being taken to other classes through newly established waste services at the school. At the Mobility Day in September, the students will present their materials and activities at a stand on the town hall square in Remseck.
Winners of "Partnerships for Climate Action" honored with certificates and trophies
As part of the "Partnerships for Climate Action" municipal forum, the certificate and challenge cup were ceremoniously presented to the winners at the district hall on Friday.
The winning team can look forward to an exclusive movie screening for 40 people including snacks at the Ludwigsburg cinema "Luna". A new feature this year is a challenge cup for the winning team, as the "Municipal Climate Scouts" project has now been established in the Ludwigsburg district. Some municipalities have been involved for several years and can now compete for the challenge cup.
What is behind the "Municipal Climate Scouts"?
The "Municipal climate scouts - trainees for more climate protection" project qualifies the next generation of municipal employees for climate protection in the workplace.
The workshop program, which was originally developed by the German Institute of Urban Affairs (difu) and is run by the Ludwigsburg District Energy Agency (LEA) at the Ludwigsburg District Office, teaches the topics of climate change and municipal climate protection as well as the basics of project management and communication.
Voluntary trainee teams from the district municipalities took part. The administration trainees developed their own climate protection projects at their workplace as part of the training. This firmly anchors the idea of climate protection in the trainees' professional lives and makes an important contribution on the road to climate-neutral local government.
