Marbach Bottwartal Tourismus: Wine vending machine enjoyment for a day
A hike for connoisseurs leads along the wine landscapes in the Bottwartal through traditionally cultivated vineyards and wineries. The tour passes two wine vending machines. Hikers can take a break here, enjoy the vending machines and let their minds wander. The circular tour starts in Großbottwar and follows the Württemberg Wine Trail towards Benningen, via Steinheim and Forsthof towards Kleinbottwar and back to Großbottwar. The entire route is just under 10 kilometers long and the recommended adventure time is around 2.5 hours. Sufficient time should be allowed for breaks at the wine vending machines. Further information can be found on the homepage of the Marbach-Bottwartal tourism association at www.marbach-bottwartal.de/wanderungen.
With all senses through the winter rest - pleasure hike in the Kirbach valley
Winter shows its quiet, soothing power in the Kirbach Valley. On the circular hike from Ochsenbach to Baiselsberg, visitors can immerse themselves in clear air, gentle hills and the tranquil expanse of the Stromberg landscape. The vines rest, the forest breathes deeply - and with every step, you can feel how good this wintry slowness feels. Listen to the soft crunching under your shoes, breathe in the fresh, spicy forest air and enjoy views that seem particularly expansive in winter. A tour that can be experienced at your own pace - with all your senses.
The tour is around 4 kilometers long and you should allow around 2 hours for the experience, but without breaks. Further information can be found at www.kraichgau-stromberg.de or on Komoot www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/2026176546.
Celtic Museum and Celtic Trail AR app: In the footsteps of the Celts
Actively experience the life of the Celts - the Celtic Museum in Eberdingen-Hochdorf offers an entertaining and modern way to do so. The exhibition has been renovated both energetically and didactically as part of the "Celtic Land Concept" of the state of Baden-Württemberg. In the outdoor area and in the museum itself, visitors can immerse themselves in the daily life of the Celts. In the cinema room, the new museum film
provides exciting impressions, while numerous hands-on stations invite young and old to actively experience the world of the Celts.
The museum is open Wednesdays to Sundays and on public holidays from 10 am to 5 pm. Further information on programs, offers and opening hours can be found at www.keltenmuseum.de.
A visit to the museum can be ideally combined with the Keltenweg AR app. The app is an interactive application that enables a virtual walk through time and space. At nine stations along important Celtic finds, impressive moments from the life of the Celts can be experienced using augmented reality (AR).
The trail can also be hiked in several stages. The tour is particularly recommended on cloudy days, as the images on the display of smartphones or tablets are more difficult to see in bright sunlight. The app is available free of charge in the App Store. Further information can be found at www.keltenweg.keltenmuseum.de.
Mystery cult on your doorstep
"Spelunca" - anyone thinking of a smoky beer or wine bar is wrong. This is the Roman name for a temple of the cult of Mithras, which was usually housed in a cellar. One such rare find can be discovered in the municipality of Mundelsheim at the freely accessible "Mithras Shrine and Roman Cellar" site.
Original finds and replicas are presented in the restored ruins of a Roman mithraeum, the cellar of a Roman manor house. Supplementary explanations of the exhibits are provided by descriptive display boards. The site is freely accessible and is located on the Ottmarsheimer Höhe in Mundelsheim.
A visit to this historical site can easily be combined with a walk and offers a fantastic view of the Neckar valley when the weather is fine. Further information can be found at www.mundelsheim.de.
