Kick-off for a climate-neutral district administration

The Ludwigsburg district administration wants to become climate-neutral by 2035. The project was presented at an internal kick-off event. It was already clear that there is no shortage of ideas.

A diverse group of twelve individuals stands together, smiling, in a well-lit indoor space. They appear to be part of a team or community event, with name tags visible. In the background, a presentation screen is partially visible.

"Climate protection means pioneering work and can only succeed if everyone makes their contribution. This will not be a sprint, but a relay race!" With this message, Jürgen Vogt, the first state official at the Ludwigsburg District Office, heralded the participation kick-off for the climate-neutral administration. More than 70 employees of the district office recently tackled the major task of making the administration climate-neutral by 2035.

The two representatives for climate-neutral administration, Andreas Kirschig and Tina Prietz, presented the initial assessment, the next steps and the internal survey results for the mission statement. "In addition to the figures in the greenhouse gas balance, climate neutrality is also an attitude. As a district, we have signed the climate protection pact with the state of Baden-Württemberg and thus recognized our role as a role model," said Andreas Kirschig during his presentation. He also showed examples of how it is possible to operate buildings in a climate-neutral way and to organize procurement and mobility in a climate-friendly way.

Digital files, workplace swap meets and solar expansion

In the second phase of the event, participants were able to actively contribute their suggestions: From digital files to sustainable events and the further expansion of solar energy, to creative ideas such as a workplace swap shop to save on travel - all suggestions were taken on board. Several workshops will be held over the next few months to develop concrete measures based on these suggestions, which will then be presented to the political committees.

However, the register of measures is not finished, explained Tina Prietz: "When it comes to climate protection, we must constantly take technological, social and political developments into account. With the help of circular monitoring, we ensure that we use all our potential to make the greatest possible contribution to climate protection."

At the end of the event, some employees stepped forward: the new climate pilots of the district office. They are to ensure efficient and profitable cooperation between the various levels and help shape climate protection at the district office by implementing their own projects. This idea underlines the core message of the event: climate protection is a joint task.
