In the district of Ludwigsburg, the CITY CYCLING competition will focus on sustainable mobility, exercise, climate protection and team spirit from July 1. During the three-week competition period, citizens are called upon to cycle as many of their (everyday) journeys as possible and thus collect kilometers for their municipality. The towns and municipalities will then enter a nationwide competition for the highest cycling figures. And the hard-working cyclists can also look forward to attractive prizes - in addition to the fun of cycling and the good feeling of having made a contribution to the fight against the climate crisis.
District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier: "CITY CYCLING is once again a fixed date in our district's calendar this year. I am convinced that the competition offers a good opportunity to try out cycling again or to rediscover it! My hope is that many participants will turn cycling into a new habit and that we can take another small step towards the goal of a traffic turnaround in our district."
33 district municipalities take part
The district is taking part in CITY CYCLING for the 5th time. It is particularly pleasing that more and more district municipalities are taking part every year. The state initiative RadKULTUR supports their participation by paying the registration fees.
These 33 municipalities are taking part this year: Asperg, Benningen am Neckar, Besigheim, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Bönnigheim, Ditzingen, Erdmannhausen, Freiberg am Neckar, Freudental, Gemmrigheim, Gerlingen, Großbottwar, Hemmingen, Ingersheim, Korntal-Münchingen, Kornwestheim, Löchgau, Ludwigsburg, Marbach am Neckar, Markgröningen, Möglingen, Murr, Oberriexingen, Oberstenfeld, Pleidelsheim, Remseck am Neckar, Sachsenheim, Schwieberdingen, Sersheim, Steinheim an der Murr, Tamm, Vaihingen an der Enz and Walheim.
Anyone who lives or works in the Ludwigsburg district can take part. Those whose municipality is not (yet) participating are welcome to register directly for the district. The kilometers cycled can be entered on the website immediately after the ride, but can also be collected later. The free CITY CYCLING app is a little more convenient: participants can use it to track the distances cycled via GPS and credit them directly to their team and municipality.

Cycling with the stars
Anyone who wants to be particularly active beyond mere participation can cycle as a CITY CYCLING star for his or her municipality. Stars commit to not using a car during the three-week campaign period - not even in the passenger seat. They report on their experiences in blog posts and thus become multipliers for active and sustainable everyday mobility. Their commitment is rewarded with prizes and awards. If you are interested, you can get in touch directly with the local authority contact persons listed on the CITY CYCLING website.
Info:
CITY CYCLING is an international campaign of the Climate Alliance. Private individuals as well as representatives of companies, clubs, associations, institutions, cultural facilities, public offices and (high) schools join together in teams to collect as many kilometers as possible on bicycles and pedelecs for three weeks. In Baden-Württemberg, the state initiative RadKULTUR supports the competition. More information and all results at www.stadtradeln.de
