According to the head of the district administration, the coronavirus pandemic is not only a major burden and challenge for authorities such as the district administration, but also for the towns and municipalities in the district. "I am very grateful for the good and trusting cooperation with the municipalities in this situation. The municipalities took over contact tracing for a certain period of time, which was really a great support during the peak phase of the pandemic," explained Allgaier and continued: "In a crisis situation like this, it becomes clear how important the authorities, especially the local authorities on the ground, are in dealing with the pandemic. Many citizens feel an appreciation for what the authorities currently have to do: Citizens like to be able to rely on their state during the crisis." In this context, Allgaier quoted from a recent Forsa survey, according to which trust in municipal institutions has increased significantly again due to coronavirus: the trust of those who have great confidence in their mayor or lord mayor increased by ten percentage points to 58% between January and May.
According to Allgaier, the election result shows that Bartzsch rightly enjoys a much higher level of trust from the citizens of Murr: even eight years after his first appointment, he is "just as committed and thirsty for action as he was at the beginning". Bartzsch has achieved a lot in his first term of office, for example the expansion of childcare with the children's house and the all-day care that this makes possible, the inner development with the Rosen-Carré and the Langes Feld VI development area, the new youth center, the active housing policy for families, the photovoltaic systems on municipal buildings and the charging stations for electric cars on the village square. "If you look at the list, you would think that you had already implemented practically all of your projects - and with the constructive cooperation of all local stakeholders." However, Bartzsch has still set himself a number of goals for his second term of office, including the needs-based expansion of childcare and education services, new development areas to address the housing shortage, the implementation of the local energy transition and the expansion of digitalization with nationwide fibre optics.
"I am sure that you will continue to work for your municipality with full commitment and great enthusiasm and thus achieve your goals. You have always kept an eye on the finances and doubled the municipality's reserves during your first term of office through forward-looking management. Although the corona crisis will also affect the municipality's room for maneuver in 2020 and beyond, you still have a very good starting point," summarized District Administrator Allgaier. He wished Bartzsch "all the best for the next eight years as mayor of the municipality of Murr, lots of success, stamina and of course - and this is essential in these times - good health! I look forward to continuing my good and trusting cooperation with you". Finally, Allgaier presented the re-appointed mayor with the certificate confirming the legality of the election.
