Inauguration of Mayor Alexander Fleig on Wednesday evening - District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier: A clear win for Freudental

Alexander Fleig was sworn into office as mayor of Freudental on Wednesday evening (May 27) during a municipal council meeting. This is Fleig's second term in office, having been re-elected on February 2 with almost 98 percent of the vote. "This shows satisfaction with your work on the one hand and gives you a good vote of confidence and a sound basis for your second term of office on the other," said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier at the inauguration.

According to the head of the district administration, the election campaign took place before the coronavirus crisis. Fleig had benefited from this in that being close to the people was an elementary part of his work and he was able to be present in the village during the election campaign to present his ideas and goals during site visits. From the outset, Fleig had made a clear commitment to Freudental and said that he appreciated working in a smaller community. Just over a year ago, Freudental passed the 2,500-inhabitant mark for the first time. "Conversely, this means that people feel comfortable here and would also like to move to Freudental, which is undoubtedly also due to your work as mayor and - this should also be mentioned - to your municipal council and administrative staff," Allgaier stated.

The district administrator continued: "The fact that you stood for re-election and will now remain mayor of Freudental for another eight years is a clear gain for Freudental. You were already able to implement many projects during your first term of office: The introduction of the all-day school with canteen, the renovation of the fire station, the construction of the new crèche and the local heating supply. You are right in the middle of some projects, for example the development of the town center, the development of the Alleenfeld development area with around 50 building plots and the establishment of a food market." Fleig fought for the latter for many years - "all the better that you are still involved in the development and will hopefully be able to break ground soon," said Allgaier. In any case, the project will not fail at the district office: the district authority approved the development plan last week.

"As a former treasurer and budget holder, you always keep an eye on the financial viability of all projects: Your finances are currently in good order - what the future holds remains to be seen. Nevertheless, you have set yourself some further goals that you want to work on in your second term of office: The creation of barrier-free housing for senior citizens, the renovation and barrier-free conversion of the town hall and the switch to a digital town hall, to name just a few of these goals. Your good election result is both a mandate and an incentive for the coming years," said District Administrator Allgaier and added: "You are a passionate mayor, you accept the great challenges that this office entails, you are on duty for your community seven days a week with heart and soul." Allgaier concluded by wishing Fleig "all the best for the next eight years as mayor of the municipality of Freudental: lots of success, stamina, the necessary portion of luck and, of course, good health! I look forward to continuing to work with you."
